It was only eight months ago in September 2021 that designers and their musees, along with actors, singers, and influencers, gathered to celebrate American fashion at "In America: A Lexicon of Fashion" (open in new tab). It was only eight months ago that we celebrated fashion. Tonight, in keeping with the Met Gala tradition of the first Monday in May, the event is "In America: An Anthology of Fashion. In other words, the theme represents the era of gilded glamour from 1870 to 1900. There will be voluminous bustles, intricate beadwork, and gold-toned hair and makeup (opens in new tab).

The event's official co-chairs include Regina King, Blake Lively, Ryan Reynolds, and Lin-Manuel Miranda. At the same time, Anna Wintour, Tom Ford, and Instagram's Adam Mosseri will host as honorary co-chairs.
