Camila Cabello wears custom-made flowers in her hair at the 2022 Met Gala.
Camila Cabello's 2022 Met Gala gown was a month in the making, but the flower-adorned bun was a last-minute decision. When hairstylist Andrew Fitzsimmons saw the Cinderella star's stunning Prabal Gurung gown adorned with hand-cut and hand-painted flowers, he was adamant about incorporating floral accents into the glamorous look. The founder of Andrew Fitzsimmons Hair said in a Marie Claire press release. 'I asked Prabal if there were any flowers I could add to the buns.'
Thankfully, some extras were on standby and Fitzsimmons was able to create a gorgeous look. After conditioning her hair with Andrew Fitzsimmons' AF1 10-in-1 Leave-In Conditioner (opens in new tab) and Model Volume Wave Spray (opens in new tab), he used a diffuser to up her natural texture. To make it a little firmer, he spritzed on an Apli-Sex Texture Spray (opens in new tab).
Once he had secured her hair back with bobby pins into a messy bun, it was time for the main event. "I was inspired by the way the flowers mimicked the 'peek-a-boo' effect of the dress," Fitzsimmons explained. The final touches were a little Hard Strong Hold Hairspray (opens in new tab) and Prismatic Shine Invisible Shine Spray (opens in new tab).
While Cabello's hair certainly stole the show, it is important to give kudos to her nails as well. She worked with nail artist Tom Bachik (opens in new tab) to complete a white acrylic look with 3D floral embellishments. Says celebrity manicurist Tom Bacik, "We wanted Camilla's nails to be long and adorned with flowers to represent the overall look Prabal wanted." 'Flowers are part of nature's fashion and a symbol of hope. To create an avant-garde feel, we kept the flowers and nails monochromatic in matte white.
As for the makeup, she worked with Patrick Ta (open in new tab) to create a soft, peachy-pink glamorous finish.
When all was said and done, Cabello walked the red carpet looking and feeling fabulous." I'm super happy with what I'm wearing," she said during the E! News pre-show. '[My dress] is sustainable and I love it." I love how Prabal Gurung weaves in her own values, feminism, and body positivity. I'm so proud of the people here."
She added, "I'm so proud of the people here.
