In April, while Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were en route to the Netherlands for the Invictus Games, Her Majesty the Queen invited the couple and their children, Archie and Lili, to England in early June to celebrate Her Majesty's milestone platinum jubilee together. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex accepted the invitation, but as reported by Marie Claire, the visit apparently did not go as expected.

However, in terms of ongoing family relations, the Queen apparently offered another chance. As an olive branch, the Queen invited the Sussexes to Balmoral, a beloved Scottish summer retreat, according to several news organizations. [The Sussexes spent little time with the monarch during the Platinum Jubilee celebrations earlier this year, during which they finally introduced their daughter Lilibet to her great-grandmother," the Mirror reported.

"Prior to Her Majesty's summer vacation in the Scottish Highlands, officials have been warned to expect the couple and their two children, who reside in the United States.

A source told The Sun, "Staff have been told to expect the full list of royals, including Harry, Meghan, and their children Archie and Lilibet. They are preparing for the Sussexes. Balmoral is the perfect place for them to spend a little quality time with the Queen."

Her Majesty the Queen arrived at Balmoral last weekend and will stay at the seven-bedroom Craigowan Lodge on the grounds for 10 weeks, the Sun reports. Prince William and Kate Middleton, as well as Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis, visited last year. Of the retreat, Princess Eugenie, the Queen's granddaughter, said, "It is the most beautiful place on earth. Grandma is the happiest there."

It is unclear whether the Sussexes will visit, but a source told The Sun, "They would be stunned if they showed up."
