Prince William and Kate Middleton apparently have a relatively secret third home in Scotland
There has been recent talk of the Cambridges moving to Windsor this summer. While Windsor will be their primary residence, the family of five-Prince William, Kate Middleton, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis-will also retain their apartment at Kensington Palace in London, which they will use as their office. In addition to their new home in Windsor, the Cambridges' country home, Anmer Hall, is located in the Sandringham estate in Norfolk.
In addition to KP (soon to be Windsor's primary residence) and Anmer Hall, according to the Mirror, the family actually has a third home, but no pictures of it exist and few people know about it.
Interestingly named Tam-Na-Ghar Cottage, it was given to William by his late great-grandmother, the Queen Mother, shortly before her death in 2002, when William and Kate were in college together, and eventually began a friendship that went beyond that. It is at the Queen's beloved Balmoral Manor in Scotland, where the Queen spends her summers and where she is now. The Cambridges frequently visit Her Majesty at Balmoral, but, according to the Mirror, "they do not have to rely on the Queen to let them stay in the main house."
However, the house is a bit small for a family of five (I am speaking in royal terms here, not layman's terms). With only three bedrooms, it could be a bit crowded for a family of five. The magazine reports that William and Kate "often" used the house in the early days of their romance and "have used it as a retreat since their student days at the University of St. Andrews in Scotland."
The Cambridges stayed at the cottage in 2019, and a source told Vanity Fair at the time (according to the Mirror) that "the Queen has a lot of guests coming over, so it looks like the Cambridges are staying at the cottage to relieve some of the pressure." He went on to say. That could be a plus for everyone since it would mean more space in the castle."

In all, there are 150 buildings on the Balmoral estate, including Balmoral Castle, the main residence, and Birkhall, which is owned by Prince Charles.
Apparently, Tam na ghar Cottage has a really special place in William and Kate's hearts, and they have told friends that some of their happiest times were there, dating back to their college days.
